EQ, or also known as Emotional Intelligence, stands for Emotional Quotient.
It defines as an ability to identify, assess and control the emotions of oneself, of other snad of groups. According to the University of New Hampshire psychology department, it is the “ability to validly reason with emotions and to use emotions to enhance thought."
IQ, which stands for Intelligence Quotient, refers to the ability to learn, understand and apply different information to different skill sets. It assesses logical reasoning, word comprehension and math skills and the score can be assessed from standardised IQ tests. Those with a high level of IQ can think in abstracts and make connections easier.
While IQ was viewed as a preferred determinant of success, the criticism of its narrow view of measuring success with only intelligence emerged over time. Emotional Intelligence has come into prominence recently as it covers areas where the traditional IQ alone couldn’t assess.
